USDA moves forward with milk pricing hearing
The USDA decided Friday to proceed with a hearing on the Federal Milk Marketing Order system.
Daniel Munch with American Farm Bureau Federation tells Brownfield USDA decided which of the dairy pricing proposals will be considered when the hearing starts August 23rd in Carmel, Indiana.
An official with USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service tells Brownfield two things will happen Monday. First, the notice of the hearing will be published in the Federal Register. Second, AMS will publish an associated stakeholder notice announcing the hearing.
The hearing is expected to last for at least a couple of weeks, and individual farmers will be able to testify in person or remotely on Fridays starting September 1st.
