High interest rates “hurting” Iowa farmer
High interest rates are worrisome for many farmers.
North Iowa corn and soybean grower April Hemmes says she’s mindful of how long she hangs onto borrowed money.
“The interest rates are what’s really hurting us right now.”
She tells Brownfield lower fertilizer prices are helping ease the pain.
“The nitrogen has come down a bit, P&K, those are things I’ve already paid. A lot of stuff I pay ahead.”
Hemmes has not purchased seed for 2024 yet and says she’s waiting to see what prices do.
