Healthcare a priority for Missouri Farm Bureau

December 5, 2022 By Carah Hart Filed Under: Missouri, News

Access to healthcare remains a challenge for rural America. Missouri Farm Bureau is making it a priority for its members in the 2023 state legislative session. During his president address on Monday, Garrett Hawkins told members two lawmakers are supporting the legislation.

“State Senator Sandy Crawford and State Representative Kurtis Gregory are filing the legislation to allow Missouri Farm Bureau to offer health plans to members whose needs aren’t being met under the existing Affordable Care Act.”

Hawkins explains to Brownfield there is a policy component to setting up health care.

“That’s why we’ll be having conversations with the Missouri General Assembly about the importance of meeting the needs of those underserved in rural areas.”

The state legislative session begins in January.
